Dear SCAA Community Member,

Happy Almost New Year! We wanted to take this opportunity to review 2024, and to invite you to visit the facility-we have a lot to share with you and many of this past year’s projects need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

“A major league baseball player who gets a hit in 30% of their at bats throughout their career is likely to end up in the Hall of Fame. The average batting average of MLB hall of famers is .303.”

Our game’s highest player honor is reserved for those achieving 1 success in every 3 attempts.

In 2024, SCAA hosted, sponsored, and supported 20 different teams playing in 8 different leagues, playing both Spring and Fall Seasons. Our facility hosted 155 home games and our teams played in at least an equal number of away games at facilities as far North as Upper Mount Bethel and as far south as East Norriton. The total number of home games and teams is up slightly from 152 in 2023. The extraordinarily dry conditions this year meant we had very few rescheduled games, but some changes to field maintenance routines.

In March, our Coaches installed a second batting cage between fields SC#2 and SC#3 to provide increased batting practice capacity for our younger players. This area formerly hosted a batting tunnel in the 1990’s. The project was made possible by a generous donation of the frame/net from the Kerr Family, excavation by Daves Services LLC, and concrete equipment and engineering belonging to our Coaches.

In June Palisades High School Graduate and Silver Creek Alumni Troy Macik was the second recipient of the Silver Creek A.A. Community Baseball Scholarship. This scholarship supports one student with baseball experience at Silver Creek who plans to continue their formal or vocational education after high school. This scholarship aims to honor the legacy of good sportsmanship and community fellowship adhered to by Silver Creek.

September featured a triumphant return to Silver Creek by our largest Rental Client, The Gasket Goons Hot Rod Bash. After Canceling their 2023 show twice because of rain, they moved this year’s show from Saturday, 9/7 to Sunday, 9/8. Springfield Township’s Police Department helped to make this and other years shows run smoothly.

On October 20th, Coach Jason Butler’s Fall Juniors Connie Mack Bux-Mont team achieved an undefeated season with their victory over Harleysville. The final game of 2024 on the newly renovated Silver Creek #1 was not only a victory for a team, but also a lasting testimony to years of hard work, by Coaches, players and their families.

2025’s Major Volunteer and Development Events and Available Volunteer Shifts are:
  • Sponsorship (i.e. banners) and solicitation (i.e. raffles) coordination throughout the year
  • Snack stand coordination (Spring and Fall seasons): various times throughout the year
  • Facility opening and cleanup: ~early March
  • Opening Day Ceremonies: Saturday, ~mid April
  • 23rd Annual Father's Day Car Show: Sunday, June 15
  • Facility shutdown and cleanup: ~early November

Projects under consideration for 2025 pending finances and volunteers:
  • Painting the exterior of the Fieldhouse/Training Room/Team Room-Garage
  • Grandstand sponsor positions, concrete, high fence and Installation of SC#1 Scoreboard
  • Masonry repairs on SC#1 3rd Base Dugout and in the Picnic Grove
  • 6 vinyl windows for Picnic Grove Restrooms, 2 vinyl windows for Snack Stands
  • Painting the Grove Restrooms, Stalls and further remodeling of utilities

Please contact us at [email protected] to discuss how you might want to help with these projects. We also have Lucky Lottery Calendars for sale for $25 and Field Banners hung between late April and November for $200 new and $84 annually to renew yearly or $300 for 3 years for New Sponsors to help subsidize our plans. Our Father’s Day Car Show Program Advertising continues to grow in terms of page count and advertisers. Mr. Bob Shoemaker of Saucon Valley Sporting Goods and his family remain an every day, every year part of this Community.

At Silver Creek, we need to achieve more than a .333 average in terms of success with our player development, fundraising and programming.  We can only get where we are going by working together-patiently, consistently and in greater numbers. Volunteers make it happen and we’re doing it for something much more important than Fame.

SCAA meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Thank you to everyone for your hard work - past and present - to make “a place for the kids and for all our families” the unique experience that is Silver Creek.

Silver Creek Athletic Association's Mission

SCAA is a multi-generational organization that was founded nearly 70 years ago to establish, promote and maintain baseball and softball opportunities for the children of Springfield Township and the Upper Bucks County Region of Pennsylvania. Our efforts have spanned not only decades, but also the lives of area athletes, their families support and many changes in society. Fair Competition, Sportsmanship and Fellowship are the foundation of our mission and these ideals never go out of style.
